Art Knights celebrates the life and legacy of Sir Horace Ové CBE (1936-2023): the Trinidadian-born pioneer who directed Pressure, the first full-length Black British feature film, and who spent forty years photographing Black British life and the birth of Notting Hill Carnival. Returning his work to Camden, this free event gathers a rare selection of his films with an exhibition of his photography, including the Black Power images he made at the Roundhouse in 1967, and culminates in the premiere of Late Knight Anamnesis, a new three-screen installation made in tribute to him by his son, the filmmaker Kaz Ové. Alongside Horace's photographs, the exhibition features a small selection of works by contemporary legacy artists shaped by his example. The evening closes with a panel of these artists reflecting on his influence on Camden and on generations of Black British image-makers.
