In 2022, artist Lisa Keiko Kirton https://www.lisakeikokirton.comâ visited Broome on the northwest coast of Australia and was impressed with the vibrant colours of the earth and the ocean, together with its intriguing history. In this current exhibition, she has used the red soil from Broome and presented her recollection of the meeting of the ocean with the soil through mixed media.
She has said, âWe have to respect the ocean where life originated and is sustaining.â For this, she is very thankful. With âGiving Thanksâ, she asks the visitors to this exhibition to participate and write their thanks to whoever or whatever they wish. Using the ocean and earth colours of Broome, she has fashioned unique envelopes in which the participants will permanently seal their recorded thanks.
