We are excited to host a talk featuring Rukky Brume who was longlisted in the Discoveries category of the Women's Prize for It Comes in Waves. Rukky will be talking to writer and editor Tope Owolabi.
Rukky Brume grew up in Lagos, Nigeria. She studied Law at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and works as a finance lawyer. Rukky is an alumna of the Faber Academy's flagship writing course. In 2021, her writing was longlisted for the inaugural Women's Prize Trust's Discoveries Programme. Rukky's debut novel, It Comes in Waves, is out now. She lives in London.
Tope Owolabi's writing explores the tenderness and possibilities of love, together with the hopelessness of loss and its weight on the human experience. Her writing has been longlisted for the Commonwealth Prize, Guardian/4th Estate Prize, V.S. Pritchett Prize, and the Writivism Prize.
